Dr. Rory Reid

Experience Brought to the Foundation
Dr. Rory Reid holds a master’s degree in social work and a doctorate in clinical psychology with a dual emphasis in Neuropsychology and Marriage and Family Therapy. He completed post-doctoral training in the Department of Psychiatry at UCLA and Clinical Research at Harvard Medical School. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Research Psychologist in the Department of Psychiatry at UCLA. He mentors’ students, teaches, works with patients, and conducts research.
Dr. Reid has published numerous research articles on sexual behavior and pornography problems in scientific peer-reviewed journals and has been an expert witness in court proceedings for cases involving sexual offending. He has worked in prison settings with sex offenders and done clinical work with hundreds of individuals, couples, and families negatively impacted by compulsive sexual behavior, child pornography, and sex offending issues. He was the principal investigator for a special team of researchers for the DSM-5 Field Trial on Hypersexual Disorder for the American Psychiatric Association and has worked collaboratively with the FBI Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. His work has been featured in press outlets such as the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, TIME magazine, as well as TV specials on ABC, CBS and Fox News. He serves on the editorial boards for several peer-reviewed journals and has trained and educated mental health professionals, industry specialists, government organizations, and lay audiences around the world.
