Dr. Lisa Durette

Experience Brought to the Foundation

Lisa has always been passionate about issues impacting women and girls. After completing her BA with Honors in chemistry and French at Agnes Scott College, she matriculated to University of S.C. School of Medicine, where she completed her MD at 24. From there, Lisa completed residency and fellowship training in general and child and adolescent psychiatry at the Medical University of South Carolina.

Always focused on change and growth, Lisa and her husband moved to Las Vegas as there was a shortage of child and adolescent psychiatrists, and she wanted to make an impact in her community. Lisa has practiced in varied settings in Las Vegas since 2004, and in 2014 founded the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship Training Program through the University of NV School of Medicine, with the goal to train child and adolescent psychiatrists with deep understanding of our community’s issues, and with the goal of retaining those trainees for Las Vegas. Around that time, Lisa, her husband Rob, and their partner Ken founded Healthy Minds, a children’s mental health group serving youth in foster care, with aims to provide top notch care and to help restore kids to their expected developmental trajectories.

Volunteerism has always been a part of Lisa’s life, from engaging in Girl Scouts from a young age, to giving back throughout her career. She joined Be A SHERO to contribute through a non-clinical angle to women and girls most in need – victims of abuse, neglect and trafficking.
